David Murphy (pickle maker) and Kayla Abe are out to heal the food system by upcycling cosmetically-irregular produce and farm surplus to create snappy, fresh pickles. Through their tasty lineup of environmentally-minded snacking essentials, they make it easy for for us to take a step toward tackling climate change. Wrapped up in the 40% of food wasted annually in the U.S. are the greenhouse gases, land, energy, and water required to grow and transport that food. Ugly Pickle is a vision for a radical future of food in which farmers are supported, end food waste, and care for the planet.
